Midway between Ratnagiri and Ganpatipule is the Aare-Waare twin beaches. A secluded beach Aare-Waare is famous for the sunset point which is surrounded by the sea on three sides.
Located very close to the Ratnadurg fort, Mirkarwada is the fishing jetty of Ratnagiri and also a wholesale market. Head to Mirkarwada if you want to see the auction at the fish market.
Ganpatipule is a small village 26 kms from Ratnagiri town with a series of beaches and vantage points offering some stunning views of the sea. The Swayambhu Ganpati Temple, on the Ganapatipule beach itself is the primary attraction in Ganapatipule.
Located about 2 kms from Ratnagiri town Bhatye beach is a vast expanse of white sand beach extending for about 2 kms with a temple of 'Zari Vinayak' at one end!
Bhatye beach has a picnic vibe about it with numerous chat stalls, camel rides and horse carts near the beach. An agriculture research facility specializing in coconuts is located close to the Bhatiye beach. The Ratnagiri light house and the famous Madavi beach of Ratnagiri city are visible from Bhatye Beach.
Mandvi beach extending upto the Rajiwada Port with the Ratnadurga fort at the other end is the most popular beach in Ratnagiri city. Mandvi Beach is a black sand beach and is often referred to as the Gateway of Ratnagiri. Mandvi beach although not the prettiest beaches in Konkan nevertheless is one of the most popular beaches in Konkan!
Ratnagiri district has some of the best white sand beaches in the entire konkan stretch. The talukas of Dapoli and Guhagar offer series of beaches that you can choose from for a beach holiday.
